Recruiters â" mention the pain points of your community and theyâll read your job adverts. Thereâs plenty of things a recruiter can do one-handed ;-)! And sourcing is one of them. You do not need lengthy boolean strings to pickle your brain and test your patience. There are at least 13 places in LinkedIn where you can source with one hand (and two eyes). Try areas like your home page, the pages of your ideal candidates â" look for âpeople likeâ etc⦠and who have liked the content of your competitors/clients. These are warm gifts, not cold calls! damn! The proponents of education not being important and a determining factor in somebodyâs success in future life usually use examples of individuals who had very little or no education and become very successful to rubbish the importance of education. Two things that I wanted to piggy back on from his comments which are thought provoking, and accurate: #1: Passion is important. I still believe wholeheartedly that professionals in career transition need to find the passion. But there are two things to consider here as well. One, some people do not feel passionate about anything, or not very much. The things they do feel passionate about, they do not want to work in because either it will ruin that passion for them by making it a chore instead of a pleasure. Or two, they just do not want to define their work that way. They would rather enjoy their work, be successful at it, and they do not feel the need to be passionate about it. That is okay. More than okay actually. It is about what works for you. How you want to define work, how you want it to fit into the rest of your life, and where you want to derive your fulfillment from every day. It could be in the personal realm, and that is ok. #2: Passion will wane with disappointment and failure. I would not love what I do as a coach if my business had bombed after five years. It would not be fun anymore; more of a frustration and I would have moved on. A lot of my success is hard work, not just passion, and I have had some luck along the way. Scott is right, you can be passionate about something that just is not a good business idea. You can love to do something you will never make money at. So it is not just about finding the passion, it is about finding something you enjoy, or are naturally curious about, or are great at, and working hard at it. The study, Situational and Dispositional Determinants of College Mens Perception of Womens Sexual Desire and Consent to Sex A Factorial Vignette Analysis, delves into the ways in which men interpret sexual interactions, and the results are... disconcerting.The researchers surveyed 145 straight male college students, all of whom were about 20 years old and attended a university in the southeast. The woman had a different response to the explicit sexual invitation in each situation, too, which showed varying levels of consent, refusal and passivity via verbal, nonverbal or combined verbal/nonverbal behavior.The students were then asked to respond between 1 and 7 (strongly disagree to strongly agree) to three questions How much they thought the woman wanted to advance the sexual interaction, how much she had communicated willingness (consent) to advance the sexual interaction, and to what extent she had communicated consent to have sex.Most of theresults arent too startling given the torrent of sexual harassment claims that are surfacing on our news feeds almost every morning. Men in the study had a tendency to conflate consent with sexual desire , assuming that if a woman wanted to further the sexual interaction, it counted as consent, and theyalso consistently misinterpreted the aforementioned situational factors (like previous engagement with the woman) as consent.Likewise, men averaged a 3.71 on the 1-to-7 scale for the women who didnt respond to sexual invitations, just shy of neither agreeing nor disagreeing.Our results further establish that men confuse contextual factors indicative of sexual desire with implied consent, the researchers said, adding thatmen rely on subtle differences in nonverbal communication to infer consent when the womans sexual intentions are otherwise ambiguous.Thefindings alsosuggestthat men understand verbal refusal and consent the most. That said, the average for verbal refusal welches a 2.34, meaning that, when the womandid indeed vocalizerefusal, it was not immediately understood that she was not consenting to the sexual advance.Whats worse? These confusions and misunderstandings werent jus t relegated to men who exhibited levels of hostile sexism, rape myth acceptance, psychopathy and attitudes on hypermasculinity, which the men were also rated on through a series of personality and attitude questions. No, the majority of responses the researchers received emerged as a function of the different situations as opposed to general tendencies of the individual.
